Torn in two

I can't believe I only have a week and a half left in this beautiful country! It has been a whirlwind of a summer, and I cannot begin to put into words the impact that it has had on my life.

For the past two weeks, I have been leading teams in Carrefour, Haiti. Last week, I had a team from Kansas who began to pour the foundation for a church in Bertin. It was such a cool experience to literally start from the ground on a project. After digging 4 foot deep holes and trenches to connect those holes, we poured cement and set re-bar into the holes to establish footers for the foundation of the church. The team worked hard in the hot sun with no shade. It was grueling work, but satisfying at the same time.

This week, I'm back at Mariani. It has been such an honor to work there all summer and see the progress that is being made. They are building steps up to the church this week, which involves bucketing a lot of rocks an dirt. The team is working hard in the mornings and playing hard in the afternoons. The children at Mariani are always full of energy and ready to play.

As this week flies by, I am reminded that I will be leaving all too soon. I am so excited to go home and see my family and friends and share with you all the amazing ways that God is working here. However, I have developed another family of my own here in Haiti. I feel so torn between my two worlds, but I know each one has such a special place in my life, I will continue to be a part of both.

I continue to covet your prayers for the next few days! Mama and Daddy always tell me that you guys are asking about me and praying for me, and I can tell you that I have felt those prayers. Thank you so much for following me and supporting me on this journey. I love you all.

  1. This is a great entry. I am praying for you as you approach the difficult task of leaving...like Almando said, the relationships you create there will last a lifetime! Praying for strength, enjoyment, and a time of cherishing the blessings God has allowed you to participate in this summer! Love you.
